Home is Where My Heart Is is a photographic exhibition capturing the reality of youth homelessness. Now in its fourth year, the exhibition is the culmination of a project that partners young emerging photographers with young homeless people, who are asked to take a photo that captures their interpretation of home.

It is the simple act of sharing knowledge and skills that makes this exhibition so powerful. Each large-scale print will be taken by the young homeless person; the emerging photographer is simply involved in enabling the young person to understand light, aperture and composition and how these creative elements affect the way we read an image.

Profit from the sale of prints goes directly back to the services that support these young homeless people. In 2010 we raised over $7000 for these services. This event is run by the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia in partnership with Propel Youth Arts WA.

Opening Night: Thursday 4th August 2011 @ 6pm
834 Hay Street (opp. His Majestys Theatre)

Hidden Treasures

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

hidden-treasures

Hidden Treasures is a winter music festival series offered by the City of Fremantle throughout July. Every Thursday in July, High Street will become a live music hot spot for those wishing to explore the new music talents developing in Fremantle or indulge in memories and relive some of the great times in Fremantle’s music history.

The venues down High Street will reveal their own secrets as doors are opened to clubs that for many years have been the private domain of membership, as well as the private spaces upstairs above the retailers. Talented young local designers have been enlisted to put together temporary décor installations to transform these places, making them visually captivating and socially cosy spaces for performance. Every Thursday the venues will each host an event at different times, allowing you to wander from one venue to the next and enjoy each act, grab a meal and make a night of it.
